And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David stayed in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

So and more also do God to the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that urinates against the wall.

Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, seeing the LORD has withheld you from coming to shed blood, and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now let your enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.

And the Philistines followed hard on Saul and on his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchishua, Saul's sons.
