Psalm 51:1

A Conservative Version

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness. According to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted in order to wipe away your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

Withhold thou not thy tender mercies from me, O LORD. Let thy loving kindness and thy truth continually preserve me,

But as for me, in the abundance of thy loving kindness I will come into thy house. In thy fear I will worship toward thy holy temple.

Our fathers did not understand thy wonders in Egypt. They did not remember the multitude of thy loving kindnesses, but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

But as for me, my prayer is to thee, O LORD. In an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of thy loving kindness, answer me in the truth of thy salvation.

To LORD our God belong mercies and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him,

Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory. Where are thy zeal and thy mighty acts? The yearning of thy heart and thy compassions are restrained toward me.

I will make mention of the loving kindnesses of LORD, [and] the praises of LORD, according to all that LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his merci

LORD is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works.

Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

O my God, incline thine ear, and hear. Open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name. For we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousness, but for thy great mercies' sak

and do not cover their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee, for they have provoked [thee] to anger before the builders.

Yet, LORD, thou know all their counsel against me to kill me. Do not forgive their iniquity, nor blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee. Deal thou with them in the time of thine anger.
