For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

For the rich men of it are full of violence, and the inhabitants of it have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people [as] they eat bread, and call not upon LORD?

Woe to you, scholars and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye close up the kingdom of the heavens ahead of men. For ye enter not in, nor do ye allow those who are entering to enter in.

Her rulers in the midst of her are roaring lions. Her judges are evening wolves. They leave nothing till the morrow.

Thus says LORD concerning the prophets who make my people to err, who bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace. And he who does not put into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.

Bread of falsehood is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

Stolen waters are sweet, and bread in secret is pleasant.

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth, but the soul of the treacherous, violence.

Their hands are upon that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler asks, and the judge [is ready] for a bribe. And the great man, he utters the evil desire of his soul. Thus they weave it together.

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and sin as it were with a cart rope,

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil, who put darkness for light, and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Take ye heed each one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother, for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.
