Proverbs 17:9

A Conservative Version

He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates chief friends.

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions.

And above all having fervent love for yourselves, because love will cover a multitude of sins,

A perverse man scatters abroad strife, and a whisperer separates chief friends.

Blessed are those (LXX/NT) whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Love is patient and is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not brag, and is not puffed up.

let him know that he who converts a sinful man from his wandering way, will save a soul from death, and will hide a multitude of sins.

A rebuke enters deeper into him who has understanding than a hundred stripes into a fool.
