Proverbs 13:14

A Conservative Version

The law of a wise man is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

The cords of Sheol were round about me. The snares of death came upon me.

The fear of LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

The cords of death encompassed me, and the pains of Sheol got hold upon me. I found trouble and sorrow.

Understanding is a well-spring of life to him who has it, but the correction of fools is folly.

By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of LORD men depart from evil.

To the wise man the way of life [is] upward, that he may depart from Sheol beneath.

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

and blessed be thy discretion, and blessed be thou, who have kept me this day from blood guiltiness, and from avenging myself with my own hand.
