Proverbs 1:22

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scoffers delight them in scoffing, and fools hate knowledge?

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers,

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And he who hears, let him say, Come. And he who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.

Knowing this first, that there will come at the end of the days, scoffers, proceeding according to their own desires,

For every man who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, so that his works may not be exposed.

saying, If thou knew, even thou, indeed even in this thy day, the things for thy peace. But now they are hidden from thine eyes.

But after going, learn what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners for repentance.

When a scoffer is punished, a simple man is made wise, and when a wise man is instructed, he receives knowledge.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who have been sent to her. How often I wanted to gathered thy children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and ye would not.

And having answered, Jesus said, O faithless and perverted generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him here to me.

Judgments are prepared for scoffers, and stripes for the back of fools.

A scoffer does not like to be reproved. He will not go to the wise.

A scoffer seeks wisdom, and [finds it] not, but knowledge is easy to him who has understanding.

O ye simple, understand prudence, and, ye fools, be of an understanding heart.

and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding

How long will thou sleep, O sluggard? When will thou arise out of thy sleep?

Surely the Lord is opposed to the arrogant (LXX/NT), but he gives grace to the lowly.

The fear of LORD is the beginning of knowledge. The foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion,

Consider, ye brutish among the people, and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

What man is like Job, who drinks up scorning like water,

How long [shall I bear] with this evil congregation that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they murmur against me.

And LORD said to Moses, How long do ye refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?

And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, Thus says LORD, the God of the Hebrews, How long will thou refuse to humble thyself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.

She cries in the chief place of concourse, at the entrance of the gates, in the city. She utters her words:

For the backsliding of the simple shall kill them, and the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name. He works in the arrogance of pride.

A prudent man sees the evil, and hides himself, but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

O Jerusalem, wash thy heart from wickedness, that thou may be saved. How long shall thine evil thoughts lodge within thee?

I have seen thine abominations, even thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, on the hills, in the field. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem! Thou will not be made clean. How long shall it yet be?
