And when Balaam saw that it pleased LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at the other times, to meet with omens, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob, neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What has God wrought!

And Balaam said to Balak, Stand by thy burnt-offering, and I will go. Perhaps LORD will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell thee. And he went to a bare height.

But I have a few things against thee, because thou have there men who adhere to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a snare before the sons of Israel, even to eat idol sacrifices, and to fornicate.

Behold, these caused the sons of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against LORD in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of LORD.

And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down upon the desert.

Behold, I have received to bless. And he has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

And he said to Balak, Stand here by thy burnt-offering, while I meet [LORD] yonder.

And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said to the rulers of Balak, Get into your land, for LORD refuses to give me leave to go with you.

Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David. Thou shall both do mightily, and shall surely prevail. So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.

Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

And now, behold, I know that thou shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thy hand.

And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand, and they came to Balaam, and spoke to him the words of Balak.

And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar.
