But having turned around, he said to Peter, Go thee behind me, Satan. Thou are my stumbling-block, because thou regard not the things of God, but the things of men.

Let us not therefore criticize each other any more, but judge ye this instead, not to place a stumbling block to the brother, or a snare.

And Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.

And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? For do I not know that I am this day king over Israel?

And he shall be for a sanctuary, but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a net and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

It is good not to eat meats, nor to drink wine, nor in whatever thy brother stumbles against, or is caused to stumble, or becomes weak.

Woe to the world because of stumbling-blocks. For it is necessary that the stumbling-blocks come, yet woe to that man through whom the stumbling-block comes.

And having taken him aside, Peter began to rebuke him, saying, Be merciful to thee, Lord. This will, no, not be to thee.
