And the scholars and the chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him, for they feared him, because all the people were awed at his doctrine.

And it came to pass, when Jesus finished these sayings, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,

And they sought to seize him. And they feared the multitude, for they knew that he spoke the parable against them. And having left him, they went away.

And as he discoursed about righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment going to be, Felix, having become afraid, answered, Go now, and having a convenient time, I will summon thee.

The subordinates answered, A man never so spoke like this man.

And the chief priests and the scholars sought to throw hands on him in the same hour. And they were afraid, for they knew that he spoke this parable against them.

But should we say, From men? (They feared the people, for all held John that he was indeed a prophet.)

for Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and he protected him. And having heard of him--the many things he was doing--he even heard of him gladly.

And the Pharisees having gone out, they straightaway were making a plot with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

And they were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scholars.

But when the chief priests and the scholars saw the wonderful things that he did, and the boys crying out in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David, they were indignant,

Thus says LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, [and] his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers. Kings shall see and arise, rulers, and they shall worship, because of LORD who is faithful

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the kin

And Ahab said to Elijah, Have thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee because thou have sold thyself to do that which is evil in the sight of LORD.

And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

Did not Moses give you the law, and none of you does the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?
