A Conservative Version

For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace, and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, shall be stubble. And the day that comes shall burn them up, says LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Through the wrath of LORD of hosts is the land burnt up, and the people are as the fuel of fire; no man spares his brother.

And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who transgress against me. I will bring them forth out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am LORD.

Thou shall be for fuel to the fire. Thy blood shall be in the midst of the land. Thou shall no more be remembered. For I, LORD, have spoken it.

Then set it empty upon the coals of it, that it may be hot, and the brass of it may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.

And as for you, O my flock, thus says lord LORD: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, the rams and the he-goats.

And he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. And he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver. And they shall offer to LORD offerings in righteousness.

For evil-doers shall be cut off, but those who wait for LORD, they shall inherit the land.
