And he was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, and the scholars sought to destroy him, even the foremost men of the people.

And the scholars and the chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him, for they feared him, because all the people were awed at his doctrine.

In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, Did ye come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me.

Jesus answered him, I spoke in public to the world. I always taught in a synagogue, and in the temple where the Jews always gather together, and I spoke nothing in secret.

Therefore they sought again to take him, and he went forth out of their hand.

And some of them wanted to taken him, but no man laid hands on him.

Did not Moses give you the law, and none of you does the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?

Now after two days was the Passover and the unleavened bread. And the chief priests and the scholars sought how, having take him with trickery, they might kill him,

And they sought to seize him. And they feared the multitude, for they knew that he spoke the parable against them. And having left him, they went away.

And when he came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him while he taught, saying, By what authority do thou these things? And who gave thee this authority?

I was daily near you, teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me--but that the scriptures might be fulfilled.

And they did not find what they might do, for the people all hung upon him, listening.

And the chief priests and the scholars sought to throw hands on him in the same hour. And they were afraid, for they knew that he spoke this parable against them.
