David therefore departed from there, and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him.

Now the Philistines gathered their armies together to battle. And they were gathered together at Socoh, which belongs to Judah, and encamped between Socoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.

Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piram king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,

I will yet bring to thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah, him who shall possess thee. The glory of Israel shall come even to Adullam.

and in En-rimmon, and in Zorah, and in Jarmuth,

And his wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.

And in the hill-country, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,

the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

the king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

And they did so, and brought forth those five kings to him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.

And LORD discomfited them before Israel, and he killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and to Makkedah.

And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brothers, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages.

Ben-hesed, in Arubboth (to him [pertained] Socoh, and all the land of Hepher);

And Beth-zur, and Soco, and Adullam,

and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
