Why should the nations say, Where is now their God?

Why should the nations say, Where is their God? Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed be known among the nations in our sight.

so that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.

And it came to pass that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O lord LORD, forgive, I beseech thee. How shall Jacob stand, for he is small?

The meal-offering and the drink-offering are cut off from the house of LORD. The priests, LORD's ministers, mourn.

Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou are LORD, even thou only.

with which thine enemies have reproached, O LORD, with which they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

All who pass by the way rob him. He has become a reproach to his neighbors.

We have become a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and derision to those who are round about us.

How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name forever?

As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me; while they continually say to me, Where is thy God?

Then Solomon offered burnt-offerings to LORD on the altar of LORD, which he had built before the porch,

were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, lest their adversaries should judge amiss, lest they should say, Our hand is exalted, and LORD has not done all this.

then I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them. And this house, which I have hallowed for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I went with the throng, and led them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping holyday.

Why are thou cast down, O my soul? And why are thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise him, the help of my countenance, and my God.
