If he is pleased to contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
I will say to God, Do not condemn me. Show me why thou contend with me.
Shall he who quibbles contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.
Because if our heart should condemn us, that God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
If we say that we have no sin, we lead ourselves astray, and the truth is not in us.
Rather, O man, who are thou answering back to God? No, will the thing formed say to him who formed it, Why did thou make me this way?
for innumerable evils have encompassed me around. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed me.
Who can discern [his] errors? Clear thou me from hidden [faults].
Why do thou strive against him because he does not give of any of his matters?
Though I be righteous, my own mouth shall condemn me. Though I be perfect, it shall prove me perverse.
How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words [to reason] with him?
Who is he who will contend with me? For then I would keep silent and give up the spirit.
I have spoken once, and I will not answer, yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.
For he needs no further to consider a man, that he should go before God in judgment.
