As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away, so he who goes down to Sheol shall come up no more.

For we must die, and are as water split on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again, neither does God take away life, but devises means that he who is banished be not an outcast from him.

O spare me, that I may recover strength before I go from here, and be no more.

Terrors are turned upon me. They chase my honor as the wind, and my welfare is passed away as a cloud.

For when a few years are come, I shall go the way where I shall not return.

before I go where I shall not return, to the land of darkness and of the shadow of death,

But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.

I said, I shall not see LORD, [even] LORD in the land of the living. I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

Yea, he loads the thick cloud with moisture. He spreads abroad the cloud of his lightning,

It is high as heaven; what can thou do? Deeper than Sheol; what can thou know?

For now I should have lain down and been quiet. I should have slept. Then I would have been at rest

If I look for Sheol as my house, if I have spread my couch in the darkness,

It shall go down to the bars of Sheol when once there is rest in the dust.

[Being] dead, they shall not live. [Being] deceased, they shall not rise. Therefore thou have visited and destroyed them, and made all remembrance of them to perish.
