so I am made to possess months of misery, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.
I am weary with my groaning. Every night I make my bed to swim. I water my couch with my tears.
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun, and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.
Behold, thou have made my days [as] handbreadths, and my life-time is as nothing before thee. Surely every man at his best condition is altogether vanity. Selah.
O that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me,
But now he has made me weary. Thou have made desolate all my company.
As a servant who earnestly desires the shadow, and as a hireling who looks for his wages,
For he performs that which is appointed for me. And many such things are with him.
My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.
