Shall he who quibbles contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.

For who has known the mind of Lord that he will stand with him? But we have the mind of Christ.

With whom did he take counsel. And who instructed him, and taught him in the path of justice. And taught him knowledge, and showed to him the way of understanding?

Why do thou strive against him because he does not give of any of his matters?

And when they received it, they murmured against the house-ruler,

He is near who justifies me. Who will content with me? Let us stand up together. Who is my adversary? Let him come near to me.

What do ye mean, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the son's teeth are set on edge?

As God lives, who has taken away my right, and the Almighty, who has vexed my soul.

If he is pleased to contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.

[Why is light given] to a man whose way is hid, and whom God has hedged in?

Why is light given to him who is in misery, and life to the bitter in soul,

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

Whatever has been, the name of it was given long ago, and it is know what man is. Neither can he contend with him who is mightier than he.

Thou have turned to be cruel to me. With the might of thy hand thou persecute me.

Am I a sea, or a sea-monster, that thou set a watch over me?

I will say to God, Do not condemn me. Show me why thou contend with me.

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

I would set my case in order before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

O that I had someone to hear me (Lo, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me), and [that I had] the indictment which my adversary has written!

Moreover LORD answered Job, and said,

Then Job answered LORD, and said,

I have laid a snare for thee, and thou are also taken, O Babylon, and thou were not aware. Thou are found, and also caught, because thou have striven against LORD.

Gird up now thy loins like a man, for I will demand of thee, and declare thou to me.
