If he sets his heart upon himself, [if] he gathers his spirit and his breath to himself,
Thou hide thy face, they are troubled. Thou take away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
[He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him, and prospered?
And they shall be gathered together as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison. And after many days they shall be visited.
What is man, that thou should magnify him, and that thou should set thy mind upon him,
in whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?
Thou turn man to destruction, and say, Return, ye sons of men.
and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
