He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall behold the light.

My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, the grave is [ready] for me.

A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

O remember that my life is a breath. My eye shall no more see good.

LORD kills, and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol, and brings up.

For LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side-posts, LORD will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.

He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

Their soul abhors all manner of food, and they draw near to the gates of death.
