And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in Lord from henceforth. Yea, says the Spirit, so that they may rest from their toils, and their works follow with them.

It shall go down to the bars of Sheol when once there is rest in the dust.

Let us therefore be diligent to enter into that rest, so that not any man may fall by the same example of disobedience.

There remains therefore a Sabbath for the people of God.

O that thou would hide me in Sheol, that thou would keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou would appoint for me a set time, and remember me!

And I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of those who kill the body, and after these things not having anything more severe to do.

Or I should have been as a hidden untimely birth, as infants that never saw light.

There the prisoners are at ease together. They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster.

Therefore I praised the dead who have long been dead more than the living who are yet alive.

As well their love, as their hatred and their envy, has perished long ago, nor have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.
