Thus says LORD: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping. Rachel weeping for her children, she refused to be comforted for her children, because they are not.

In the day of my trouble I sought LORD. My hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not. My soul refused to be comforted.

And he spread it before me, and it was written inside and outside. And there were written in it lamentations and mourning and woe.

But I passed by, and, lo, he was not. Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

And why do thou not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now I shall lay down in the dust, and thou will seek me diligently, but I shall not be.

And his return was to Ramah, for his house was there. And there he judged Israel, and there he built an altar to LORD.

And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.

And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill-country of Ephraim, and the sons of Israel came up to her for judgment.

They have gone over the pass. They have taken up their lodging at Geba. Ramah trembles. Gibeah of Saul has fled.
