Let me sing for my well-beloved a song of my beloved concerning his vineyard. My well-beloved had a vineyard in a very fruitful hill.

I was asleep, but my heart awoke. It is the voice of my beloved who knocks, [saying], Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled. For my head is filled with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.

My heart overflows with a good matter. I speak the things which I have made concerning the king. My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

I will sing of loving kindness and justice. To thee, O LORD, I will sing praises.

That thy beloved ones may be delivered, save with thy right hand, and answer us.

Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard. They have trodden my portion under foot. They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Israel is a luxuriant vine that puts forth his fruit. According to the abundance of his fruit he has multiplied his altars. According to the goodness of their land they have made goodly pillars.

For LORD thy God brings thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;

And thou shall eat and be full, and thou shall bless LORD thy God for the good land which he has given thee.

Thy mother was like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters. It was fruitful and full of branches because of many waters.
