Because of thy raging against me, and because thine arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou came.

And I will turn thee about, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them handling swords,

By the way that he came, by the same he shall return, and he shall not come to this city, says LORD.

and his breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction. And a bridle that causes to err [shall be] in the jaws of the peoples.

Therefore it shall come to pass, that, when LORD has performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

And after falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why do thou persecute me?

Lord LORD has sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that they shall take you away with hooks, and your residue with fish-hooks.

Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trust deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

And have I now come up without LORD against this land to destroy it? LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

And Rabshakeh said to them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this in which thou trust?

For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult, and those who hate thee have lifted up the head.

Forget not the voice of thine adversaries. The tumult of those who rise up against thee ascends continually.

Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly. They have set up their ensigns for signs.

The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved, he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

Become ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding, whose trappings must be bit and bridle to hold them in, [else] they will not come near to thee.

Can thou put a rope into his nose, or pierce his jaw through with a hook?

Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear news, and shall return to his own land. And I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me. I have heard it.
