For, behold, the Lord, LORD of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and staff, the whole support of bread, and the whole support of water,

For it came to pass through the anger of LORD, in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

We have drunken our water for money. Our wood is sold to us.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places, yet ye have not returned to me, says LORD.

Now why do thou cry out aloud? Is there no king in thee. Has thy counselor perished, that pangs have taken hold of thee as of a woman in travail?

On the ninth day of the [fourth] month the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
