It shall also be carried to Assyria for a present to king Jareb. Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah [saw] his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb. But he is not able to heal you, nor will he cure you of your wound.

Therefore the strength of Pharaoh shall be your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

And also their gods, with their molten images, [and] with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, he shall carry captive into Egypt, and he shall refrain from the king of the north some years.

Then ye shall remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good. And ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.

They shall be put to shame, yea, confounded, all of them. They shall go into confusion together who are makers of idols.

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

The steps of his strength shall be restricted, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him. And Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.

Thou have played the harlot also with the Assyrians, because thou were insatiable. Yea, thou have played the harlot with them, and yet thou were not satisfied.
