And thou, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre,

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

And fire has gone out of the twigs of its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is no strong twig in it to be a scepter to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.

And he spread it before me, and it was written inside and outside. And there were written in it lamentations and mourning and woe.

Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the nether parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.

This is the lamentation with which they shall lament. The daughters of the nations shall lament with that over Egypt, and over all her multitude. They shall lament with that, says lord LORD.

And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, [saying], Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea?

Rulers were hanged up by their hand. The faces of elders were not honored.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.
