See thou how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.
The Lord is not slack about his promise, as some regard slackness, but is patient toward us, not wanting any to perish, but all to go forward to repentance.

Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and to those who brought up [the sons of] Ahab, saying,
For all these things my hand has made, and all these things came to be, says LORD. But to this man I will look, even to him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.
Hear the word of LORD, ye who tremble at his word: Your brothers who hate you, who cast you out for my name's sake, have said, Let LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy. But it is those who shall be put to shame.
