Numbers 6:3 - Tree of Life Version

3 is to abstain from wine and any other fermented drink. He is not to drink any vinegar made from wine or any fermented drink, or any grape juice, or eat grapes or raisins.

“Do not drink wine or fermented drink, neither you nor your sons with you, when you go into the Tent of Meeting, so that you do not die. This is to be a statute forever throughout your generations.


I raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Is this not so, Bnei Yisrael?” declares Adonai.


“But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and you commanded the prophets saying, ‘Do not prophesy.’


“All during his days as a Nazirite he is not to eat anything from the grapevine—even the seeds or skins.


He will be great before Adonai; and he should not drink wine and intoxicating beverage, but he will be filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh just out of his mother’s womb.


“But watch out so your hearts are not weighed down by carousing, strong drink, and the worries of life. Do not let that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.


And do not get drunk on wine, for that is recklessness. Instead, be filled with the Ruach,


keep away from every kind of evil.


(No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach and for your frequent ailments.)


These relate only to food and drink and various washings—regulations for the body imposed until a time of setting things straight.


She should not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, or drink wine or strong drink, or eat any unclean thing. She must observe all that I commanded her.”
