Afterward, the people left Hazeroth and encamped in the Wilderness of Paran.

“These are the names of the men who will allot the land to you: Eleazar the kohen and Joshua son of Nun.


Also you are to select one prince from each tribe to allot the land.


“Then all of you came near to me and said: ‘Let’s send men ahead of us to explore the land for us and bring us back word about the way we should go up and the cities we will enter.’


“The idea seemed good to me, so I took twelve men from among you—one man for each tribe.


When Adonai sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, ‘Go up and possess the land I have given you,’ then you rebelled against the commandment of Adonai your God and didn’t believe Him or listen to His voice.


I was 40 years old when Moses the servant of Adonai sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought him back word as it was in my heart.


Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent out two spies from Shittim saying: “Go, explore the land, especially Jericho.” So they went and came to the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and lodged there.
