Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star had appeared.


In the days of Herod, King of Judah, there was a kohen named Zechariah from the priestly division of Abijah. Elizabeth, his wife, was from the daughters of Aaron.


A Savior is born to you today in the city of David, who is Messiah the Lord.


And when the angels departed from them into the heavens, the shepherds were saying to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened which Adonai has made known to us!”


Didn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from the seed of David and from Bethlehem, David’s town?”


Now there was a young man from Bethlehem of Judah—of the clan of Judah—who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
