He took one of the royal offspring, cut a covenant with him, putting him under oath. He also took away the leading men of the land,


As I live”—it is a declaration of Adonai—“surely in the place of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, within Babylon he will die.


By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she welcomed the spies with shalom.


But the city will be under the ban of destruction—it and all that is in it belong to Adonai. Only Rahab the harlot will live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the scouts that we sent.


So the young spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her relatives and all who belonged to her. All her relatives they brought out and put them outside the camp of Israel.


So Joshua made peace with them and cut a covenant with them, to let them live, and the leaders of the community swore to them.


So he showed them the entrance into the city, and they struck the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man go free with all his family.
