“How much more, when wrong men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, should I not now require his blood at your hand and remove you from the earth?”


“So act according to your wisdom, and do not let his grey hair go down to She’ol in peace.


And Athalyah was the mother of Aḥazyahu. And when she saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the offspring of the reign.


Thus Yo’ash the sovereign did not remember the loving-commitment which Yehoyaḏa his father had done to him, and killed his son. And as he died, he said, “יהוה does see, and repay!”


And his servants conspired against him, and killed him in his own house.


But the people of the land struck all those who had conspired against Sovereign Amon, and the people of the land set up his son Yoshiyahu to reign in his place.


For He remembers the seekers of bloodshed, He does not forget the cry of the afflicted.


“He who strikes a man so that he dies shall certainly be put to death.


‘Do not go slandering among your people. Do not stand against the blood of your neighbour. I am יהוה.


‘And a man who strikes the being of any man shall certainly be put to death.


‘And he who strikes a beast repays it, and he who strikes a man to death is put to death.


But if he has stricken him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall certainly be put to death.


And if he has stricken him with a stone in the hand, by which one could die, and he does die, he is a murderer. The murderer shall certainly be put to death.


Or if he has stricken him with a wooden instrument that could kill, and he does die, he is a murderer. The murderer shall certainly be put to death.


or in enmity he strikes him with his hand so that he dies, the one who struck him shall certainly be put to death, for he is a murderer. The revenger of blood puts the murderer to death when he meets him.


so that on you should come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Heḇel to the blood of Zeḵaryah, son of Bereḵyah, whom you murdered between the Dwelling Place and the slaughter-place.


“And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having ordained beforehand the times and the boundaries of their dwelling,


“But when anyone hates his neighbour, and shall lie in wait for him and rise against him and strike his being so that he dies, then he shall flee to one of these cities,


and the elders of his city shall send and bring him from there, and give him into the hand of the revenger of blood, and he shall die.


Thus did Elohim repay the evil of Aḇimeleḵ, which he had done to his father to kill his seventy brothers.
