29 “Let it rest on the head of Yo’aḇ and on all his father’s house. And let there never fail to be in the house of Yo’aḇ one who has a discharge or is a leper, or who is taking hold of a staff or falls by the sword, or who lacks bread.”

And Na‛aman, commander of the army of the sovereign of Aram, was a great man in the eyes of his master, and highly respected, because by him יהוה had given deliverance to Aram. And he was a brave man, but leprous.


“So let the leprosy of Na‛aman cling to you and your descendants forever.” And he went out from him as leprous as snow.


I give thanks to יהוה according to His righteousness, And praise the Name of יהוה Most High.


if he rises again and walks about outside with his staff, then he who struck him shall be innocent. He only pays for lost time and sees to it that he is completely healed.


“Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘When any man has a discharge from his flesh, his discharge is unclean.


And do not profane the land where you are, for blood profanes the land, and the land is not pardoned for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it.


And when the foreigners saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man is certainly a murderer, whom, though saved from the sea, still right-ruling does not allow to live.”


“And let all the elders of that city nearest to the slain man wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the wadi.


“Because they have shed the blood of set-apart ones and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. For they deserve it.”


in order that the violence done to the seventy sons of Yerubba‛al might come, and their blood be laid on Aḇimeleḵ their brother, who killed them, and on the masters of Sheḵem, who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers.
