And the sovereign said to Yo’aḇ the commander of the army who was with him, “Go please, throughout all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl, from Dan to Be’ĕrsheḇa, and register the people, so that I know the number of the people.”


And יהוה sent a plague upon Yisra’ĕl, and seventy thousand men of Yisra’ĕl fell.


Yo’aḇ son of Tseruyah began a census, but he did not finish, for wrath came upon Yisra’ĕl because of this census; nor was the number recorded in the account of the annals of Sovereign Dawiḏ.


And over the division of the second new moon was Doḏai an Aḥoḥite, and of his division Miqloth also was the leader, and in his division were twenty-four thousand.


And a messenger of יהוה went out, and struck in the camp of Ashshur one hundred and eighty-five thousand. And they arose early in the morning, and saw all of them, dead bodies.


O יהוה, I have heard your report, I was afraid. O יהוה, renew Your work in the midst of the years! Make it known in the midst of the years. In wrath remember compassion.


And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.


“For nation shall rise against nation, and reign against reign. And there shall be scarcities of food, and deadly diseases, and earthquakes in places.


And I looked and saw a green horse. And he who sat on it had the name Death, and She’ol followed with him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and by the beasts of the earth.


And He struck among the men of Bĕyth Shemesh, for they had looked into the ark of יהוה. He struck among the people seventy men, and the people mourned because יהוה struck among the people, a great smiting.
