And Dawiḏ saw that his servants were whispering, and Dawiḏ perceived that the child was dead. Then Dawiḏ said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” And they said, “He is dead.”


And his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept because of the living child, but when the child died, you rose up and ate food.”


And Yo’aḇ sent to Teqowa and brought from there a wise woman, and said to her, “Please pretend to be a mourner, and put on mourning garments, and do not anoint yourself with oil, but act like a woman who has been mourning a long time for the dead.


And Mephiḇosheth son of Sha’ul came down to meet the sovereign. And he had not attended to his feet, nor trimmed his moustache, nor washed his garments, from the day the sovereign went away until the day he came back in peace.


So they brought the ark of יהוה in, and set it in its place in the midst of the Tent that Dawiḏ had pitched for it. And Dawiḏ brought ascending offerings before יהוה, and peace offerings.


And Sovereign Dawiḏ went in and sat before יהוה and he said, “Who am I, O Master יהוה? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?


Then Iyoḇ rose up and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and did obeisance.


But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Indeed, should we accept only good from Elohim, and not accept evil?” In all this Iyoḇ did not sin with his lips.


Bless יהוה, O my being, And all that is within me, Bless His set-apart Name!


יהוה is compassionate and showing favour, Patient, and great in loving-commitment.


“I was dumb, I did not open my mouth, Because it was You who did it.


Come, let us bow down and bend low, Let us kneel before יהוה our Maker.


Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear יהוה and turn away from evil.


Let your garments be white at all times, and let your head lack no oil.


But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,


“You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume.


“And, you shall bathe and anoint yourself, and put your garments on and go down to the threshing-floor. Do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.


“And now, please pardon my sin, and return with me, and let me bow myself to יהוה.”


And Shemu’ĕl turned back after Sha’ul, and Sha’ul bowed himself to יהוה.
