He who watches over his mouth guards his being, But he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.


The highway of the straight Is to turn away from evil; He who guards his life watches over His way.


Thorns, snares are in the way of the perverse; He who guards his life keeps far away from them.


Hear, my son, and be wise, And guide your heart in the way.


He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But he who walks wisely is delivered.


My son, let them not depart from your eyes; Watch over sound wisdom and discretion;


“The beginning of wisdom is: Get wisdom! And with all your getting, get understanding.


There is a sickly evil I have seen under the sun: riches kept for their owner, for his evil.


“The heart is crooked above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it?


“But what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and these defile the man.


“For out of the heart come forth wicked reasonings, murders, adulteries, whorings, thefts, false witnessings, slanders.


“Watch and pray, lest you enter into trial. The spirit indeed is eager, but the flesh is weak.”


“The good man brings forth what is good out of the good treasure of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked out of the wicked treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart his mouth speaks.


“Only, guard yourself, and guard your life diligently, lest you forget the Words your eyes have seen, and lest they turn aside from your heart all the days of your life. And you shall make them known to your children and your grandchildren.


See to it that no one falls short of the favour of Elohim, that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, by which many become defiled,
