Look, He breaks down, and it is not rebuilt. If He imprisons a man, there is no release.


And when He is silent, who would then condemn? And when He hides His face, who then sees Him, whether it is against a nation or a man alone?


Wise in heart and mighty in strength – who has hardened himself against Him and is at peace?


If יהוה  does not build the house, Its builders have laboured in vain. If יהוה  does not guard the city, The watchman has stayed awake in vain.


Remember, O יהוה, against the sons of Eḏ


יהוה  brings the counsel of the nations to naught; He thwarts the plans of the peoples.


There is no wisdom or understanding Or counsel against יהוה.


“Without Me they shall bow down among the prisoners, and fall among the slain.” With all this His displeasure has not turned back, and His hand is still stretched out.


But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west; together they plunder the people of the east, their hand stretching forth on Eḏ


that is not quenched night or day, its smoke going up forever. From generation to generation it lies waste, no one passes through it forever and ever,


“For My sword shall be drenched in the heavens. Look, it comes down on Eḏ


“And there is expectancy for your latter end,” declares יהוה, “and your children shall return to their own country.


Therefore hear the counsel of יהוה  which He has counselled concerning Eḏ


“Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Deḏ


“And they shall eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and daughters should eat. They shall eat up your flocks and your herds, they shall eat up your vines and your fig trees. With the sword they shall demolish your walled cities, in which you are trusting.


Who was it that spoke, And it came to be! Has יהוה  not commanded it?


“By the sword you fall. At the border of Yisra’ĕ


therefore thus said the Master יהוה, “I shall stretch out My hand against Eḏ


“And I shall lay My vengeance on Eḏ


‘And I shall make you like a shining rock, and let you be a place for spreading nets, never to be rebuilt, for I יהוה  have spoken,’ declares the Master יהוה.


“Your cities I destroy, and let you be a ruin. And you shall know that I am יהוה.


“I shall make you an everlasting ruin, and your cities uninhabited. And you shall know that I am יהוה.


Thus said יהוה, “For three transgressions of Eḏ


“And I shall smite the winter house along with the summer house. And the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall be swept away,” declares יהוה.


Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take grain taxes from him – you have built houses of hewn stone but you are not going to dwell in them, you have planted pleasant vineyards but not drink wine from them.


For look, יהוה  is commanding, and He shall smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.


Pass over to Kalneh and see, and from there go to Ḥ


“Because of your violence against your brother Yaʽ


“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
