19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.

And did not the Lord relent and reverse the decision concerning the evil which He had pronounced against them? But [here] we are thinking of committing what will be a great evil against ourselves.

19 Did the king of Judah, Hezekiah, with all of Judah, condemn him to death? Did they not fear the Lord, and petition the face of the Lord? And so the Lord repented of the evil that he had spoken against them. Therefore, we are committing a great evil against our own souls.

And the messenger stretched out His hand over Yerushalayim to destroy it, and יהוה  relented concerning the evil, and said to the messenger who was destroying the people, “It is enough, now stop Your hand.” And the messenger of יהוה  was by the threshing-floor of Arawnah the Yeḇ


“Go, inquire of יהוה  for me, and for him who is left in Yisra’ĕ


And יהוה  relented from the evil which He said He would do to His people.


For look, יהוה  is coming out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their crookedness. And the earth shall disclose her blood, and no longer cover her slain.


And it came to be, when Sovereign Ḥ


‘It could be that יהוה  your Elohim does hear the words of the Raḇ


“But know for certain that if you put me to death, you are bringing innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants. For truly יהוה  has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.”


‘If so be that they listen and each turn from his evil way, then I shall repent of the evil that I plan to do to them, because of the evil of their deeds.’


“And now, thus said יהוה, the Elohim of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’ĕ


יהוה  relented concerning this. “It shall not be,” said יהוה.


“You have counselled shame for your house, to cut off many peoples, and your being is sinning.


“The fire holders of these men who sinned against their own lives, let them be made into beaten plates as a covering for the altar. Because they brought them before יהוה, therefore they are set-apart. And let them become a sign to the children of Yisra’ĕ


so that on you should come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Heḇ


but if it is of Elohim, you are unable to overthrow it, lest you even be found to fight against Elohim.”


“Because they have shed the blood of set-apart ones and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. For they deserve it.”
