“For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘They are a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’


And it came to be on that same day that יהוה  brought the children of Yisra’ĕ


“I am יהוה  your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of slavery.


“And I have come down to deliver them from the hand of the Mitsrites, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Kenaʽ


“And did not they say, ‘Where is יהוה, who brought us up out of the land of Mitsrayim, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, through a land of drought and the shadow of death, a land that no one passed through and where no one dwelt?’


“So I took them out of the land of Mitsrayim, and I brought them into the wilderness.


Hear this word that יהוה  has spoken against you, O children of Yisra’ĕ


“Are you not like the people of Kush to Me, O children of Yisra’ĕ


for I brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim, and I ransomed you from the house of bondage. And I sent Mosheh, Aharon, and Miryam before you.


And they gave the children of Yisra’ĕ


“So the displeasure of יהוה  burned against Yisra’ĕ


“Now for a time of about forty years He sustained them in the wilderness.


“So Elohim turned and gave them up to worship the host of the heaven, as it has been written in the book of the Prophets, ‘Did you bring slaughtered beasts and offerings unto Me during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Yisra’ĕ


‘And your little ones and your children, who you say are for a prey, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they are going in there. And to them I give it, and they are to possess it.


“For יהוה  your Elohim has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He has known your wandering through this great wilderness. These forty years יהוה  your Elohim has been with you, you have not lacked any matter.” ’

‘And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, who dwelt beyond the Yardĕ
