“Men, brothers, sons of the race of Aḇ


“Men and brothers, let me speak boldly to you of the ancestor Dawiḏ


“Men, brothers, and fathers, hear my defence before you now.”


And Sha’ul, looking intently at the council, said, “Men, brothers, I have lived in all good conscience before Elohim until this day.”


Now Sha’ul, perceiving that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, cried out in the council, “Men, brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, I am being judged concerning the expectation and resurrection of the dead!”


which also I did in Yerushalayim, and I shut up many of the set-apart ones in prison, having received authority from the chief priests. And when they were put to death, I gave my vote against them.


“And punishing them often in all the congregations, I compelled them to blaspheme. And being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.


“While thus engaged, as I was journeying to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,


And it came to be after three days that Sha’ul called the leaders of the Yehuḏ


And they said to him, “We neither received letters from Yehuḏ


“And now, brothers, I know that you did it in ignorance, as your rulers did too.


And it came to be, on the next day, that their rulers and elders and scribes assembled in Yerushalayim,


Now when they heard, they went into the Set-apart Place early in the morning, and were teaching. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Yisra’ĕ


and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all those calling on Your Name.”


For you have heard of my former way of life in Yehuḏ


according to ardour, persecuting the assembly; according to righteousness that is in the law, having become blameless.


Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the elderhood.
