But the scarcity of food was severe in the land.


“יהוה  has brought upon you all the blood of the house of Sha’ul, in whose place you have reigned. And יהוה  has given the reign into the hand of Aḇ


And they said to the sovereign, “The man who consumed us and plotted against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in all the border of Yisra’ĕ


And again the displeasure of יהוה  burned against Yisra’ĕ


And there was a great scarcity of food in Shomeron. And see, they besieged it until a donkey’s head went at eighty pieces of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five pieces of silver.


And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Rise up and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you do sojourn, for יהוה  has called for a scarcity of food, and also, it is coming upon the land for seven years.”


I say to Eloah, ‘Do not declare me wrong, show me why You strive with me.


To my heart You have said, “Seek My face.” Your face, יהוה, I seek.


“And call upon Me in the day of distress – Let Me rescue you, and you esteem Me.”


“When he calls on Me, I answer him; I am with him in distress; I deliver him and esteem him.


‘When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back to you your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.


“And he is to stand before Elʽ


But the children of Yisra’ĕ


“Let us do this to them: We shall keep them alive, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath which we swore to them.”


And it came to be, in the days when the rulers ruled, that there was a scarcity of food in the land. And a man from Bĕ


And they asked again of יהוה, “Has the man come here yet?” And יהוה  answered, “See, he has hidden by the baggage.”
