This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: there is one event to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are filled with evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and then – to the dead!


“The heart is crooked above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it?


And the governor said, “Indeed, what evil has He done?” And they were crying out all the more, saying, “Let Him be impaled!”


And he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. Having disciplined Him then, I shall release Him.”


“Does our Torah judge the man unless it hears first from him and knows what he is doing?”


Then Sha’ul hurled the spear, for he said, “Let me smite Dawiḏ


And Yehonathan spoke well of Dawiḏ


“For he took his life in his hands and smote the Philistine, and יהוה  wrought a great deliverance for all Yisra’ĕ


“If he says thus, ‘It is well,’ your servant is safe. But if he is very displeased, then know that he has resolved to do evil.
