Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way, for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.


Teach me thy way, O LORD; And lead me in a plain path, Because of mine enemies.


Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: And in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.


Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness; Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.


They only consult to thrust him down from his excellency; They delight in lies: They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah


Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: In the balances they will go up; They are together lighter than vanity.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is desperately sick: who can know it?


O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thine evil thoughts lodge within thee?


For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.


And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.


Woe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over them know it not.

For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness, God is witness;
