Thou hast granted me life and favour, And thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.


Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?


Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.


Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; Thou takest away their breath they die, And return to their dust.


Make haste to answer me, O LORD; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me; Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.


For his anger is but for a moment; In his favour is life: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy cometh in the morning.


He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay; And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.


For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword, Neither did their own arm save them: But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, Because thou hadst a favour unto them.


For thou wilt bless the righteous; O LORD, thou wilt compass him with favour as with a shield.


For thou art the glory of their strength: And in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.


Behold, it was for my peace that I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.


Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come upon them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?
