Slanderous men have been in thee to shed blood: and in thee they have eaten upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they have committed lewdness.


The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.


The north wind bringeth forth rain: So doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.


He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.


For though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: But the haughty he knoweth from afar.


Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.


Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.


Thou shalt not take up a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.


Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.


Women in like manner must be grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.


An high look, and a proud heart, Even the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
