Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, which they sojourned in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.


And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task both yesterday and today, in making brick as heretofore?


We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:


is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but thou must needs make thyself also a prince over us?


And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:


and when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:


And Jacob went down into Egypt; and he died, himself, and our fathers;


The same dealt subtilly with our race, and evil entreated our fathers, that they should cast out their babes to the end they might not live.


and the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:
