And the king went up to the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.


The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.


And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.


Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.


And Nehemiah, which was the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.


And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God a fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.


And the prince, when they go in, shall go in in the midst of them; and when they go forth, they shall go forth together.


And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.


And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.


And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures?


Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;


And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded the matter, testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.
