When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike:

For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgement.


And there is hope for thy latter end, saith the LORD; and thy children shall come again to their own border.


Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall drag them away, even the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.


Of Edom. Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?


Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I shall visit him.


And they shall eat up thine harvest and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall beat down thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustest, with the sword.


Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?


Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.


therefore thus saith the Lord GOD I will stretch out mine hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it: and I will make it desolate from Teman; even unto Dedan shall they fall by the sword.


And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury: and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD


And I will make thee a bare rock: thou shalt be a place for the spreading of nets; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD


I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.


I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not be inhabited: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.


Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Edom, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:


And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.


Forasmuch therefore as ye trample upon the poor, and take exactions from him of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink the wine thereof.


For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten with breaches, and the little house with clefts.


Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?


The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GODconcerning Edom: We have heard tidings from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.


For the violence done to thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.


but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.


He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
