They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me.


Then did they spit in his face and buffet him: and some smote him with the palms of their hands,


but I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.


For ye bear with a man, if he bringeth you into bondage, if he devoureth you, if he taketh you captive, if he exalteth himself, if he smiteth you on the face.


To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloke withhold not thy coat also.


Now shalt thou gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.


Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.


Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.


For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me.


They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, And spare not to spit in my face.
