But now he hath made me weary: Thou hast made desolate all my company.


Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: And they bemoaned him, and comforted him concerning all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: Every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one a ring of gold.


My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, As the channel of brooks that pass away;


They were ashamed because they had hoped; They came thither, and were confounded.


Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, Yea, unto my neighbours exceedingly, and a fear to mine acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me.


I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.


My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off.


They also that seek after my life lay snares for me; And they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, And imagine deceits all the day long.


Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me.


Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.


I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother's children.


For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me.


Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, And mine acquaintance into darkness.


Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me; Thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.


I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought them meat to refresh their souls.


She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.


But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.


At my first defence no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account.
